Football and Periods at Greenhithe Lionesses
Our coaches always carry some supplies for period emergencies. Lil-lets have provided us with some new sanitary products of varying sizes. and types. Our coaches also carry spare pairs of shorts.

Coaches don't carry spare knickers anymore as our girls' sizes are quite diverse. So, we ask players to carry a spare pair.

Under 13 Last Match of the 2023/24 Season
From the day the fixtures were announced in September, we knew this would be our toughest match away to Long Lane. By the time we played them at their home ground, they had only lost one match.
The girls led throughout the match from our early goal after just 3 minutes, with Long Lane's first equaliser coming just minutes before half time. So, to come away with a point was amazing for our girls against a tough and worthy opposition. We saved our best performance to last match.

We Only Do Positive
It is important to only show positive behaviour towards young footballers, specifically looking at the impact parents and coaches can have.
Extensive research carried demonstrates the unwanted effects of negative behaviour on Under 7s - Under 18s and where Respect interventions would be most effective.

The stand-out insight was that 9 in 10 children played better with positive encouragement. In addition, the research highlighted that negative experiences on children had a serious adverse effect on both their footballing ability and more widely their enjoyment of the sport.
‘We Only Do Positive’ is a response to this research and uses a strategic approach to target coaches and parents specifically around mini-soccer and youth football. It aims to promote and educate coaches and parents on their roles in creating a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all the players, ensuring they have great experiences throughout their football journey.

A Coaches Poem
I am YOUR Coach
I was there when you made your first pass,
I was there when you made your first tackle,
I was there when you scored your first goal,
I was there when you saved your first shot,
I was there to watch you develop,
I was there watching you get better,
I was there to help you become your best,
I was there every time you looked at me for reassurance,
I was there to lift you up when you were at your lowest,
I was there with you to witness your best moments,
These moments are my medals and trophies because I am YOUR coach.

Note to Parents on Kit

For training and matches - your daughter will need shin pads, her own reusable bottle with water only, her own little hand sanitizer and football boots.
Goalkeeper gloves ONLY if your daughter wants to play in goal or attends our goalkeeper training. We provide full match strip to be worn for matchdays only. These are not to be worn for training and are returned at the end of each season. Please look after it during the season and return when fixtures and tournaments are over in July.
You can buy additional or replacements from our online club shop. The new strip will be green to coincide with our club’s name and the fact that fewer girls’ teams play in green, so there will be minimal requirement for an away kit.
In our first season, we will use bibs for away fixtures if there is a clash. You can buy training kit from our online shop, this includes an approved rain jacket, track suit top and bottoms, beanie hat, scarf and baseball caps, boot bags, replacement match strip shorts and socks, under garments to match strip and a polo shirt for prizegiving night.

The club has an active plan for collecting back training kit and football boots that girls have grown out of
for new players joining the club to use until they are confident to buy their own.

Parent Volunteering
We really appreciate parents bringing the girls along; it wouldn’t be worthwhile doing this without them.
Please, remember your coaches, managers and referees are volunteers. They won’t be paid and are rarely thanked, won’t be acknowledged by the media and don’t all win awards. They do this in their spare time so their child and your child can play.

Please respect their decisions and support positively at matches and by giving plenty of notice if you’re unable to come to training or play a match.

We also rely on your support. At training for pitch marking, moving equipment and on matchday; for lifts, half time oranges, assembling or packing away goals and running the line.

We are a community club and every team is a little family in its own way. So, please ask your team manager how you can help.

Please help us to be a good neighbour at training and matches. Bang muddy boots on the field, not paths or playgrounds. Always use off road parking where it is provided – home or away.
